Model Validation is a broad field with sometimes quite different meanings depending on the particular (sub-)discipline and context. After a general reflection and discussion of its meaning -- What is a model? Which part or aspect of it is validated? -- we introduce first concepts of validating prediction power, then review traditional definitions of model validation to finally model validation tests.
